Show Notes

It is hard to imagine waking up and finding out you were one of 2 survivors in a plane crash.

That is Kechi Okwuchi's story, a story of not just surviving impossible odds but thriving in a world that is too often caught up with how we look on the outside rather than seeing that our true value is within.

Now in her early 30s, Kechi has spent the last 16 years refusing to be defined by her trauma.

Today on the podcast Kechi shares her story with Lara Watson and Mark Masri and how she decided for herself what role her scars would play in her life before society decided for her. She shares her strong sense of identity, rooted in seeing herself the way God sees her, and how that has allowed her to live authentically in a world that constantly seeks to define us by its ever-changing (and ever-shallow) standards.

When You Ask God for Help and It Feels Like He Isn't Listening

What if we called on God and He appeared Before Us?What happens when we ask for help, yet we feel like God isn’t listening?Often we ask God for help and get an answer but because it is not exactly how we thought the answer would come, we don’t recognize it as one.New York Times bestselling author Mitch Albom, known for books that help bridge the gap between heaven and earth, explores this idea through his latest work, “Stranger in the Life Boat”. Today on the podcast Lara Watson, Cheryl Weber and Mark Masri hear from Mitch Albom about his book and discuss what happens when we ask God for help, and how we can see God working in our every day lives even when it feels like he is far away. It’s Okay Not to Be Okay

Feeling stuck or depleted? Emotionally raw inside? Tired of faking “fine”? Today on the podcast Lara Watson & Mark Masri are joined by Licensed Professional Counselor, and Love + Relationships Podcast Host Debra Fileta. Debra shares from her book, “Are You Really Okay?” Getting healthy is an ongoing process that requires you to stop, dig deep, and ask yourself the hard questions like how we are doing spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically. Finding Hope In 60 Seconds

Through 60 second prayers posted on TikTok our guest today went viral. That reaction inspired Cristina Baker to share her story with the world through her book "Hope in 60 Seconds: Encountering the God of the Impossible". Lara Watson and Mark Masri hear Christine share her heart-wrenching story of a childhood full of instability and abuse, leading to self-harm and a life full of darkness. Her life quickly spun out of control and she was sent away from home to live with a father she barely knew who was living in another country. Her father found himself homeless and drug-addicted and this became her story too, until a lady from her brothers church took her in with one rule-  Christine must attend church with them every Sunday.
