It was the summer before her senior year of high school and from the outside things looked like they were going great for Emma Benoit; she was a popular cheerleader, had great grades in school, a loving family, tons of friends but on the inside she was filled with depression and anxiety that lead to a suicide attempt in 2017 that had lasting effects. Today on the podcast Greg Musselman and Mark Masri hear from Emma about her anxiety that began in elementary school and how it just grew from there. She had no exposure to what "mental health" meant and her mindset began to spiral downward. Life felt helpless and she decided to end her life in a matter of minutes. When her attempt wasn't successful she felt instant regret for what had just happened. When she returned home she needed a way to express her feelings about what had happened and she began to share her story and realized just how many people needed someone to talk to.
